Mumbai : Bollywood filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is currently relishing the success of his latest movie, ‘Dunki.’ While Shah Rukh Khan took on the lead role in the film, it marked his first collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani. The audience has showered praise on the performances of both Shah Rukh Khan and Vicky Kaushal in the movie. In a recent interview, Rajkumar Hirani disclosed a significant revelation regarding Vicky Kaushal’s casting in ‘Dunki.’
According to Hirani, initially, he didn’t propose any role to Vicky Kaushal. During discussions with Vicky’s father, Shyam, about the casting for ‘Dunki,’ they deliberated on the ideal candidate for the character of Sukhi, a young man in the film. Hirani suggested Vicky Kaushal for the role initially. However, he later rejected the idea because it was a relatively small character, and Vicky had previously portrayed lead roles in several films. Hirani communicated his decision to Shyam, expressing his reluctance to cast Vicky for such a brief appearance.
Upon learning about the rejection, Vicky personally approached Hirani. He conveyed that accepting the character would be a privilege for him. Impressed by Vicky’s enthusiasm, Hirani ultimately cast him in the film. Despite the limited screen time, Vicky managed to make a lasting impression and carved a niche for himself in acting.
