Vedanta Aluminium pledges support to Machan Cultural Festival in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s premier aluminum producer, has pledged its support to ‘Machan – Belpahar Uchhab’, an annual cultural extravaganza held in Belpahar, Jharsuguda district, Odisha. This festival served as a vibrant platform for 450 artists from across the nation, showcasing a rich tapestry of traditional dance forms and classical folk music. With an audience of over 4000 patrons, Machan featured captivating performances ranging from Odissi, Sambalpuri, and Bihu to lesser-known treasures like Paiki, a martial folk dance echoing Odisha’s ancient tales of valor, and Dasakathia, a folk ballad narrating mythological tales.

This endeavor marks Vedanta Aluminium’s latest commitment to nurturing indigenous art forms at the grassroots level, thus safeguarding and promoting Odisha’s cultural heritage for present and future generations across India.

In the previous year, Vedanta Aluminium’s Mines division supported the world’s longest Sambalpuri theatre production, spanning an impressive 49 hours, and championed ‘Suravi’, a children’s festival aimed at cultivating young talent from Sundargarh district in Odisha.
