Tata Steel Signs MoU With IIT Bhubaneswar To Foster Innovation

Bhubaneswar: Tata Steel signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park (IIT Bhubaneswar REP) to foster innovation, research, and entrepreneurship in projects of mutual interest.

This collaboration, sealed at the 100-Cube Start-up Conclave held at IIT Bhubaneswar on February 11, 2024, witnessed the exchange of the MOU between T. V. Narendran, CEO & MD of Tata Steel, and Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar & Chairman of REP, in the presence of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Honourable Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

The MOU paves the way for joint exploration in various domains such as materials processing and modeling, energy and environment, and low carbon steel production, thus fostering a collaborative environment between Tata Steel and IIT Bhubaneswar REP.

Expressing his views, T. V. Narendran emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “The MoU strengthens our partnership with IIT Bhubaneswar, as we work together to co-create solutions for sustainable steelmaking and advanced materials.” He further acknowledged the potential of Indian startups and the crucial role played by academic and research institutes in nurturing innovative ideas.

Highlighting the government’s support for innovation, Narendran commended initiatives like the 100-Cube initiative for promoting entrepreneurship in Odisha and fostering technological advancements in India.
