  • Over the past three years, an average of five new connections per day have been successfully energized for industrial consumers spanning diverse sectors.
  • The streamlined process for obtaining a new connection now comprises just four straightforward steps.

Bhubaneshwar: TP Odisha Discoms, a collaboration between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, have emerged as pivotal players in bolstering the state’s industrial growth. Comprising TP Central, TP Southern, TP Northern, and TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited, these discoms have been instrumental in delivering dependable and cost-effective electricity, aligning with the Odisha government’s ‘Make in Odisha’ vision.

Over the past three years, following their takeover, these discoms have powered 5,943 industrial connections across various sectors including steel, IT, aluminium, cement, mining, and MSMEs such as food, fisheries, and automobile. This not only simplifies the process of establishing industries but also contributes to local youth employment generation.

Initiatives launched by the discoms have streamlined the process of obtaining electricity connections, enhancing the ease of doing business statewide. The new connection procedure now involves just four steps: registration, document submission, payment & verification, and meter installation.

Thanks to the effective operations of the discoms, AT&C losses in Odisha have dwindled. Furthermore, the state’s consistent and high-quality power supply has positioned it as a preferred hub for advanced startups and industries seeking to establish their operations.

TP Odisha discoms have implemented targeted initiatives catering to all consumer segments, leading to higher rankings in the third edition of the Consumer Service Ratings of DISCOMs (CSRD Report) released by the Union Ministry of Power. This national recognition underscores the success of the PPP Model and reaffirms the State Government’s dedication to developing future-ready power infrastructure in Odisha.
