New Guinness World Record Set By O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) & The Flag Foundation Of India
Sonipat (Haryana): In a landmark achievement, O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), in partnership with the Flag Foundation of India (FFI), has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest human waving national flag, surpassing all previous records. The event, which garnered the certified participation of 7368 students and staff of JGU, was officially recognized by Guinness World Records officials. Participants, including students from various schools and institutes of JGU, staff, faculty, and other officials, came together in vibrant displays of the Indian flag colors to commemorate this historic moment.
Mr. Rishi Nath, the adjudicator for Guinness World Records, who attended the event, expressed his delight, stating, “I am thrilled to announce that O.P. Jindal Global University, in collaboration with the Flag Foundation of India, has successfully established the largest human waving flag record with 7368 enthusiastic participants. JGU & FFI now hold the record for this activity, and I am proud to validate their efforts, ensuring this new record joins the Official Guinness Book of World Records.”
This remarkable event was organized by JGU in conjunction with the Flag Foundation of India, a non-profit organization dedicated to reigniting the spirit of Indian nationalism. The Tiranga symbolizes our modern democratic, secular, and liberal values, which should be embraced by all Indians as we strive to build a strong and progressive nation worthy of global recognition.
Mr. Naveen Jindal, the Founding Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University and the visionary behind the Flag Foundation, congratulated both organizations for achieving a new Guinness World Record for the largest human representation of a waving national flag.
He emphasized the significance of displaying the national flag, highlighting its role in fostering national pride and unity and transcending barriers of religion, caste, language, and region.
Reflecting on the event, Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, the Founding Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University, underscored the institution’s commitment to excellence and innovation as it celebrated its 15th anniversary. He emphasized the role of education in nation-building and expressed gratitude for the recognition by Guinness World Records, which reaffirms JGU’s dedication to shaping a brighter future for India.
Prof. Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, Registrar of O.P. Jindal Global University, hailed the event as a unifying moment for the JGU community, reinforcing pride in Indian identity and commitment to the values embodied in the Tricolour: democracy, inclusivity, respect, and tolerance.
Maj. General (Retd) Ashim Kohli, Secretary General of the Flag Foundation of India, emphasized the project’s aim to revive national pride and remove barriers hindering genuine patriotism. He highlighted the foundation’s efforts in installing monumental flags across the country, echoing the spirit of nationalism championed by Mr. Naveen Jindal.
In 2004, following a lengthy legal battle led by Mr. Naveen Jindal, the Supreme Court of India recognized the display of the national flag as a fundamental right of every citizen throughout the year. This landmark decision led to the establishment of the Flag Foundation of India, furthering the cause of national unity and pride.
