‘Nebula Nomads’ Emerge Champions In The Inaugural SUMUM Sports Meet
Bhubaneswar: The ‘Nebula Nomads,’ one of the ten competing teams in the inaugural annual sports meet organized by SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM), emerged champions as the competition concluded on Christmas day.
During the closing ceremony of ‘Sumumnoya-2023,’ a five-day event, Mr. Tusharkanti Behera, Odisha’s Minister of State for Home, Electronics and IT, Sports, and Youth Services, graced the occasion. He emphasized the significance of sports, considering it an integral aspect of human life. Mr. Behera urged different institutions and organizations to host such sporting events, highlighting that they not only contribute to health and fitness but also instill qualities like integrity, unity, and discipline among participants.
Expressing the Odisha government’s commitment to promoting various sports, Mr. Behera particularly highlighted the efforts in popularizing Kho Kho. Dr. Swetapadma Dash, Chief Executive Officer of SUMUM, welcomed Mr. Behera and reiterated that unity, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm form the foundation of a thriving community. She expressed gratitude to the SUMUM family for their contribution to the success of the sports meet.
Medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff, actively participated in a diverse range of events such as cricket, volleyball, badminton, 100 meters sprint, carom, musical chair, Three Legged Race, and Lemon and Spoon Race. ‘Nebula Nomads’ emerged as the top-performing team in this spirited competition.
Apart from the champions, other participating teams included Arora Avengers, Phoenix Phantoms, Fusion Force, Celestial Crushers, Zenith Zilts, Galaxy Gladiators, Quantum Quashers, Swift Strikers, and Rogue Riders.
During the prize distribution ceremony, Mr. Behera awarded the winners and joined in cutting a Christmas cake. The event was attended by Dr. Dash, other dignitaries, and SUMUM employees, marking a festive and successful conclusion to ‘Sumumnoya-2023.’
