Direct Flight From Rourkela To Kolkata To Begin

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has taken a significant step to enhance air connectivity between Rourkela, known as the Steel City, and Kolkata, often referred to as the City of Joy. This initiative aims to reduce travel time to a mere one hour and thirty minutes. The Rourkela-Kolkata route will be supported by the state, with the government providing Viability Gap Funding for 35 seats, along with a fare cap.

Operating three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, Alliance Air will manage the flight operations on this route. This strategic move is expected to stimulate growth in both the industry and tourism sectors within Sundargarh district, ultimately benefiting the people of Odisha. The inaugural one-way fare for this service starts from Rs 1999.
