Karunakar Das, CGM, NTPC Bongaigaon Promoted To Executive Director

Bongaigaon: Karunakar Das, formerly the Chief General Manager at NTPC Bongaigaon, has been promoted to the position of Executive Director, effective from March 1st, 2024. Mr. Das assumed his role as Chief General Manager at NTPC Bongaigaon on October 3rd, 2022.

Having earned a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from NIT Rourkela, Mr. Das commenced his career journey with NTPC as an Executive Trainee in 1986. Throughout his tenure, he showcased outstanding leadership and expertise across various significant roles and power stations.

Prior to his appointment as Chief General Manager at NTPC Bongaigaon in October 2022, Mr. Das held pivotal positions at NTPC Korba, Unchahar, Talcher Thermal, Talcher Kaniha, and Farakka. His extensive experience in Operation and Maintenance, Fuel Handling, and Fuel Management has greatly contributed to enhancing operational excellence within the organization.

As Chief General Manager, Mr. Das played a vital role in overseeing the operations and maintenance of NTPC Farakka and Bongaigaon, demonstrating strategic foresight and strong leadership. His commitment to safety, maximizing power plant efficiency, and implementing best practices has been noteworthy throughout his career. Under his leadership, NTPC Bongaigaon has achieved recognition as one of the top three stations in NTPC based on PEM and within the top 10 stations for Safety Evaluation Matrix.

In his new capacity as Executive Director, Mr. Karunakar Das remains dedicated to NTPC’s mission of providing reliable and efficient power supply to the nation. His extensive experience and expertise in safety, human resources, and commercial aspects uniquely position him to steer NTPC towards its strategic objectives and further consolidate its position as a leader in the power sector.
