JSP Receives Social Impact Award 2024 For Sports Welfare Initiatives

Bhubaneswar: Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), a prominent steel manufacturer, has received the esteemed Social Impact Award 2024 in the category of Best Sports Welfare Initiative of the Year. The award was presented by Shri Sandeep Malhotra, IPS, ACP Cyber Cell, Crime Branch, Delhi, last week, with Shri Indradyumna Datta, the Group Chief Digital Officer of JSP, accepting the honor on behalf of the organization.

Under the guidance of Chairman Shri Naveen Jindal, JSP, through its Social Arm, the JSP Foundation, has spearheaded numerous initiatives to promote sports, aiming to empower youth, foster diversity, and facilitate local talent in bringing pride to their state and nation.

This recognition reflects JSP’s steadfast dedication to driving development through inventive sports programs. Smt. Shallu Jindal, Chairperson of the JSP Foundation, expressed gratitude to the jury for the award, emphasizing JSP’s belief in the transformative power of sports to inspire, empower, and unite individuals.

Aligned with the Khelo India vision of the Government of India, JSP is actively involved in nurturing and mentoring young athletes in various sports such as Wushu, Kabaddi, archery, football, and cricket. The company provides enhanced sports infrastructure, nutrition, training, and facilitates participation in national and international events for these talents. Currently, JSP supports 25,000 athletes across the country, with a significant focus on Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, including 5,000 budding hockey talents in Odisha’s Sundergarh district.

The JSP Foundation has constructed 10 playgrounds, two sports complexes and stadiums, and a sports hostel, aimed at supporting underprivileged sportsmen and women. The Sports Hostel in Barbil offers free accommodation, nutrition, education in English-medium schools, and intensive sports coaching, particularly benefiting tribal and underprivileged talents. Many athletes nurtured by JSP have excelled, winning medals in national and international competitions.
