IIT Bombay: 85 Students Secure Job Offers Over Rs 1 Crore

Mumbai: During the initial phase of the 2023-24 placement season at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, 85 students secured job offers with annual packages surpassing Rs 1 crore. The recruitment drive witnessed the participation of 388 domestic and international firms, resulting in a total of 1,340 offers by December 20, 2023. Out of these, 1,188 students found successful placements, with seven students securing positions in public sector units (PSUs), and 297 receiving pre-placement offers (PPOs) through internships, of which 258 were accepted.

Key industry players like Accenture, Airbus, Apple, Barclays, Google, JP Morgan Chase, Microsoft, Tata Group, and others actively engaged in the placement process. Job offers were predominantly concentrated in sectors such as Engineering & Technology, IT/Software, Finance/Banking/Fintech, Management Consulting, Data Science and Analytics, Research & Development, and Design.

International opportunities also played a significant role, with 63 job offers featuring locations in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Hong Kong. The interaction between companies and candidates took place through either in-person interviews or virtual meeting platforms, with all students participating from the designated venue.

On average, the annual salary package offered stood at Rs 24.02 lakh. Specific sector-wise averages were as follows: Rs 21.88 lakh for Engineering and Technology, Rs 26.35 lakh for IT and Software, Rs 32.38 lakh for Finance, and Rs 18.68 lakh for Consulting.
