CSIR-IMMT, BHUBANESWAR, HOSTS 51ST SHANTI SWARUP BHATNAGAR INDOOR FINAL TOURNAMENT-2024

Bhubaneswar: The 51st Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Indoor Final Tournament-2024, a prestigious event, is being held at the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar, from March 15th to 19th, 2024.

The Tournament was inaugurated by Shri Chetan Prakash Jain, Financial Adviser, CSIR, in the presence of notable personalities including Shri. Debasish Mohanty (former Indian Cricketer), Dr. Sanjeev Khosla, President, CSIR-SPB, Dr. Anuradha Madhukar, Chief Scientist, CSIR-HQ, Secretary, CSIR-SPB, Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR-IMMT and Chairman of the event organizing committee, Organizing Secretary Dr. Bankim Ch. Tripathy, Chief Scientist and Secretary, IMMT-Staff Club Dr. Bama Prasad Bag, Senior Principal Scientist. The annual Souvenir “SSBMT -2024” was unveiled by the distinguished guests during the inauguration ceremony.

The event, organized under the patronage of the CSIR-Sports Promotion Board, New Delhi, will witness participation from nearly all CSIR scientific laboratories across the nation. With over 200 participants vying for the national championship, the tournament encompasses various disciplines including bridge, chess, table tennis, badminton, and carrom board. Notably, this edition marks the participation of more than 60 women, highlighting inclusivity.

The distinguished guests extended a hearty welcome to all participants from the PAN CSIR fraternity. Additionally, match officials from renowned associations such as the All-Odisha Chess Association, Odisha Bridge Association, Odisha State Carrom Association, Odisha State Badminton Association, and Odisha State Table Tennis Association graced the occasion with their presence.
