Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik today dedicated the second campus of IMS and SUM Hospital at Phulanakhara located on NH-16 between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Unveiling the latest facility, the Chief Minister stated that it would significantly enhance healthcare services for both the twin cities and the entire state. The newly established hospital, initially equipped with approximately 750 beds, plans to progressively expand its capacity to 3000 beds within the next two years. It is designed to feature a comprehensive range of departments and state-of-the-art technology, including advanced cancer care services. Notably, the oncology care provisions will encompass radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, and diagnostic equipment.

The strategic location of the hospital is expected to greatly benefit patients, providing accessibility from various regions. The IMS and SUM Hospital campus in Phulnakhara will encompass a wide array of departments, such as General Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Pediatrics, Neonatology, Critical Care Medicine, Psychiatry, Anesthesiology, Radio-Diagnosis, Emergency Medicine, Immuno Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Medical Oncology, Pediatric Oncology, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Pathology, and Microbiology.

Renowned healthcare professionals, trained either internationally or in reputable Indian medical institutions, who have consistently delivered high-quality specialist and super-specialty medical care at affordable costs at IMS and SUM Hospital, will also extend their services to the new facility.

The Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, affiliated with the faculty of medicine at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) in Bhubaneswar, has displayed unwavering dedication to serving the community for over 18 years. It has earned recognition as one of the most sought-after healthcare centers in Odisha and its neighboring states. This distinguished teaching hospital, inaugurated in 2005, admits 250 students annually into the MBBS course, contributing significantly to healthcare education in the region.
