All India Rose Convention & Rose Exhibition Inaugurated At KIIT
Bhubaneswar: The 40th edition of the All India Rose Convention and Rose Exhibition inaugurated with vibrant festivities at the KIIT campus on January 5, where Chief Guest Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, unveiled four new rose varieties—Lord Jagannath, Lord Lingaraj, Sephali, and Radha.
During his address, Dr. Samanta underscored the profound significance of roses, tracing their origins back 3.3 million years and acknowledging their esteemed status as the king of flowers. He expressed his fondness for flowers, particularly roses, emphasizing the beauty and vibrancy they bring to our lives, evoking smiles and happiness.
Smt. Saswati Bal echoed this sentiment in her speech, highlighting the role of flowers in bringing joy and reducing stress in our lives.
The three-day convention is a collaborative effort by the KIIT Rose Society, in association with Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Orissa Horticulture Society, and Directorate of Horticulture, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Government of Odisha.
A grand rose show is on display at KIIT Campus-7, showcasing potted roses of diverse varieties, colors, and fragrances. Open to the public from 9 am to 6 pm on January 6th and 7th, the exhibition ground also features potted foliage and flowering plants from industries and corporate houses.
Mr. N K Dadlani, Vice President of India Rose Federation, expressed gratitude to Dr. Samanta for hosting the event at the picturesque KIIT campus, acknowledging its beauty and deeming the event the best so far. Other speakers at the event included Mr. Hemant Kumar Pal, Secretary of the Odisha Rose Society, Mr. Sudarshan Panda, Organising President, and various other dignitaries.
