Mumbai : Škoda Auto India has successfully maintained its sales momentum, achieving a significant milestone by selling over 1 lakh cars in two years. This achievement underscores the success of its India-centric product strategy, highlighted by the launch of two exceptional models tailored specifically for the Indian market – the Kushaq and Slavia. These models have played a pivotal role in reaching this sales milestone, a feat that previously took the company more than six years to accomplish.

The year 2022 marked a record-breaking period for Škoda Auto India, thanks to the successful launches of the Kushaq and Slavia. However, in 2023, the momentum faced some challenges due to supply issues and related constraints. Despite these challenges, Škoda managed to achieve sales of 48,755 units from January 1 to December 31, 2023, and efforts are underway for a full recovery.

Petr Janeba, Brand Director at Škoda Auto India, emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum in 2023 after the remarkable performance in 2022. The focus in 2023 centered on consolidating the company’s position through continuous product enhancements, expanding its network, and elevating the quality of sales and after-sales services. Despite supply challenges in the first half of the year, Škoda concluded the last quarter of 2023 on a positive note. Looking ahead to 2024, the company plans exciting product actions, new product announcements, growth through exports, and network expansion, all while prioritizing customer satisfaction.

In terms of sales, Škoda Auto India reported 48,755 units sold in 2023, following the record-setting year of 2022 with 53,721 cars sold. The Kodiaq also witnessed a remarkable 100% increase over 2022, achieving an all-time high annual sales volume. India remains a crucial market for Škoda Auto, standing as one of the largest markets outside Europe.

Škoda Auto India expanded its customer touchpoints from 120 in early 2021 to 260 by the end of 2023, reinforcing its commitment to providing an unparalleled sales and service experience. The safety front saw significant progress in 2023, with both the Kushaq and Slavia earning full 5-star safety ratings for adult and child safety, following the stricter test protocols of Global NCAP.

Looking ahead to 2024, Škoda Auto India is set to export India-made cars to Vietnam and other right-hand drive markets, utilizing products, parts, and components from its Pune plant. The company has ambitious plans for product actions and new product announcements in the coming year.
