Sculptor Arun Yogiraj’s Ram Lalla chosen for Ram Temple in Ayodhya

New Delhi: A sculpture of Ram Lalla, crafted by Arun Yogiraj from Mysuru, has been chosen for installation at the upcoming Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, as confirmed by Champat Rai, the general secretary of the temple trust, on Monday. Weighing between 150 kg to 200 kg, the stone depiction will portray a five-year-old Ram Lalla and is scheduled to be moved to the new temple on January 17. Additionally, Rai stated that the current idol of Ram Lalla will find its place in the sanctum sanctorum of the new temple.

The formal announcement regarding the selection of Yogiraj’s sculpture follows Union minister Pralhad Joshi’s declaration on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Days prior, Joshi had shared on X, “The selection of the idol for the Prana Pratishtapana of Lord Rama in Ayodhya has been finalized. The idol of Lord Rama, carved by renowned sculptor of our country, Yogiraj Arun, will be installed in Ayodhya.”

Yogiraj, a distinguished sculptor, hails from a lineage of five generations of renowned sculptors in Mysore.
