Vedanta Aluminium Launches Free Drinking Water Facility In Sundargarh, Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Due to the early arrival of summer in the area, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s foremost aluminium producer, has installed a drinking water facility at the Sundargarh bus stand in Odisha. This initiative ensures access to clean and safe drinking water for over 500 individuals every day.

Located strategically at the busy bus stand, this project addresses the crucial need for clean water in public spaces. It is one of several initiatives undertaken by Vedanta Aluminium to improve the quality of life and promote sanitation practices in the district. The inauguration of the project was carried out by Shrimati Kusum Tete, MLA of Sundargarh.

In response to the needs of local residents, Vedanta Aluminium’s mines team has previously executed water infrastructure projects in villages such as Jamkhani, Girisima, and Mendra, contributing to healthier living conditions. Moreover, the company organizes an annual ‘Jal Sewa Shibir’ during the summer months in Odisha, where water kiosks are set up at public places for travelers due to the extreme weather conditions. Last year, a two-week-long ‘Jal Seva Shibir’ was organized at the Rayagada bus stand, offering drinking water and lemonade, benefiting over 65,000 people during the summer heatwave.

Mr. Ratan Sarangi, President of the Sundargarh Private Bus Owner Association, expressed appreciation for Vedanta’s initiative, emphasizing the significant benefit it brings to travelers. He thanked Vedanta for its valuable contribution.
