Vedanta Aluminium enhances alumina refining capacity To 3.5 MTPA in Odisha 

Bhubaneswar: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s leading aluminium producer has reached a significant milestone in its expansion endeavors, aiming to rank among the top 3 global players with an annual production capacity of 3 million tonnes of aluminium. Today, the company proudly announces the successful commissioning of a major expansion, adding 1.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to its state-of-the-art alumina refinery in Lanjigarh, Odisha, marking a pivotal move towards achieving complete vertical integration.

This expansion elevates the alumina refinery’s production capacity from 2 MTPA to 3.5 MTPA, with plans underway to further increase the Lanjigarh refinery’s nameplate capacity to 5 MTPA, supporting the company’s growing aluminium production. Vedanta Aluminium boasts a diverse range of premium aluminium products, including the innovative Restora, India’s pioneering low-carbon ‘green’ aluminium range. These high-quality products serve critical roles across various sectors such as automotive, aerospace, defense, infrastructure, power projects, electricals, and packaging.

Moreover, the company stands as one of India’s leading producers of premier smelter grade alumina (SGA), a vital raw material for its aluminium plants in Jharsuguda (Odisha) and BALCO (Chhattisgarh).
