Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurates Skill India Centre In Dhenkanal
Dhenkanal: Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan, on Friday inaugurated Skill India Centre in Dhenkanal district.
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Minister Pradhan emphasized that the establishment of the Skill India Centre would bolster the region’s skill development landscape, facilitating access to essential 21st-century skills. He underscored its role in realizing the aspirations of citizens, particularly the youth, by equipping them with the necessary competencies to thrive in the future. This initiative, aligned with the #ModiGuarantee, aims to position India as a Global Skill Capital.
Adopting an industry-centric and outcome-driven approach, the centre will immerse students in emerging trends, enabling them to apply acquired skills effectively in today’s dynamic job market. Additionally, besides offering future-oriented courses at affordable rates, the centre will also preserve traditional crafts, integrating them into contemporary contexts.
The establishment of this centre as a knowledge hub for the youth will showcase the tangible impact of the initiative in facilitating skill acquisition essential for success in diverse fields. With state-of-the-art infrastructure and modern amenities, the centre will play a pivotal role in shaping the future workforce and creating opportunities for placement in both domestic and global markets.
In collaboration with Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), the centre will address sector-specific skill gaps, design tailored training programs, and engage industry partners to cultivate a skilled workforce aligned with industry demands.
To ensure smooth operations, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will appoint a Centre Manager responsible for overseeing training programs, maintaining quality standards, and overall centre management.
Spanning an area of 6 thousand square feet, the centre features five modern labs and three training halls capable of accommodating over 1200 individuals annually. These facilities will offer training in eight subjects over a three-month period at nominal costs. As part of the Skill India Mission, special emphasis will be placed on training young women in fields like New Age Skills, Graphics Design, Technology and Technology Services, and Food and Beverage Services.
