Dhenkanal: The Tata Steel Meramandali Half Marathon, being organized in collaboration with the Dhenkanal District Administration, is proud to announce its international recognition by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). The Half-Marathon route, located on the periphery of Kapilash Wildlife Sanctuary, underwent assessment by AIMS Distance Measurer AmriShanediwan, with support from Tata Steel’s Sports and District Administration, Dhenkanal. Following the evaluation, AIMS granted certification to the course, a noteworthy achievement for the event. This endorsement allows participants in the race to partake in any future AIMS-certified international marathons.
Headquartered in Monaco, AIMS is a global organization that represents marathon and distance running races worldwide. The validation of the Tata Steel Meramandali Half Marathon course by AIMS marks a significant milestone, enhancing the event’s prestige.
Scheduled for February 4, 2024, the Tata Steel Meramandali Half Marathon will unfold near Dhenkanal town, set against the scenic backdrop of Kapilash Wildlife Sanctuary. The event will feature three competitive races, including 21 km and 10 km runs for individuals aged 19 years and above, as well as a 5 km run for boys and girls aged 14 to 19 years.
The formal declaration of the run took place on December 28, 2023, as Shri Manoranjan Mallick, District Collector and Magistrate of Dhenkanal, announced the event in the presence of senior district officials and Tata Steel executives.Registration for the Tata Steel Meramandali Half Marathon is now open, offering limited slots on a first-come, first-served basis.
