SUM Ultimate Kicks Off Sports Event For Employees

Bhubaneswar: SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM), a corporate hospital in Odisha, kicked off its inaugural sports event, “Sumumnoya”, here on Thursday. The 5-day meet is said to be the first of its kind for any corporate hospital in Odisha.

Dilip Tirkey, a renowned hockey Olympian and President of Hockey India, inaugurated the event, expressing delight at the initiative. Tirkey emphasized the positive impact on the fitness of hospital personnel, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics, while fostering team spirit among them.

Highlighting the significance of sports in maintaining fitness, Tirkey encouraged the youth to actively engage in such pursuits. Dr. Swetapadma Dash, CEO of SUMUM, noted that this event, named “Sumumnoya,” was the first of its kind organized by a corporate hospital in Odisha for its employees. Dr. Dash emphasized the event’s role in promoting relationships and building camaraderie among the hospital staff.

Welcoming Tirkey as a role model for aspiring youth, Dr. Dash acknowledged his achievements. The sports meet includes a variety of competitions such as Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, 100-meter Race, Tug of War, Three-Legged Race, Lemon Spoon, Carrom, and Musical Chair.

Ten teams, namely Arora Avengers, Phonex Phantoms, Fusion Force, Celestial Crushers, Zenith Zilts, Nebula Nomads, Galaxy Gladiators, Quantum Quashers, Swift Strikers, and Rogue Riders, are participating in different events. The inaugural ceremony featured the unveiling of team jerseys, and participants took the oath. The event saw the presence of SUMUM’s Chief of Medical Services, Brig. (Dr.) Biraj Mohan Mishra, Medical Superintendent Dr. Prasanta Kumar Panda, departmental heads, doctors, nurses, and other dedicated employees.
