‘SCALERZ-2024’ Management Conclave Held At SOA
Bhubaneswar: According to a senior executive from Genpact, Mr. Karunakaran Vinayagam, academic knowledge isn’t the sole focus for companies when considering job applicants. Instead, they prioritize traits like attitude, critical thinking, and effective communication. Mr. Vinayagam emphasized this during his address at the SOA Scalerz-2024 management conclave held at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University. The conclave, themed ‘Beyond Boundaries: Empowering Minds and Enabling Growth’, aimed to foster discussions on these crucial aspects.
Mr. Vinayagam highlighted that management graduates should nurture these traits as they hold significant value in the professional world. He stressed that industries often prioritize these qualities over mere academic qualifications. Additionally, resilience and the ability to communicate effectively are also highly sought after.
The event, inaugurated by SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, underscored the university’s commitment to preparing students to face real-world challenges and excel in adverse conditions. Prof. Nanda emphasized the university’s dedication to creating new knowledge, providing high-quality education, and contributing to society.
During interactions with students, Mr. Vinayagam addressed concerns about automation’s impact on employment, stating that companies resort to automation only when necessary. Regarding job tenure, he mentioned that there’s no fixed rule; instead, companies offer platforms for skill development.
The conclave featured panel discussions on ‘Future of Work—Aligning MBA Curriculum with Industry Needs’ and ‘Developing Soft Skills for Career Success: What Employers Look For?’. The panels comprised industry experts from various organizations, moderated by Mr. Yashwant Lal and Mr. Amit Tripathy, SOA’s Soft Skill Mentors.
