Railway Board Approves Establishment Of Wagon Periodic Overhauling (PoH) At Kantabanji
Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Railways has approved the establishment of a Wagon Periodic Overhauling (PoH) facility in Kantabanji, allocating Rs 244.77 Crore for the project. This decision follows a thorough review of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) submitted in September 2023.
The proposed workshop, with a capacity for 200 wagons, will utilize vacant land owned by Railways in Kantabanji. This move is in response to longstanding demands from local residents and public representatives for such a facility in the area.
Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw has assured the local community of his commitment to their needs, with the approval from the Railway Board highlighting the government’s dedication to citizen concerns.
The establishment of the Wagon PoH workshop will bring several benefits, including increased freight traffic through regular wagon overhauls, leading to cost savings by extending the lifespan of wagons rather than replacing them. Additionally, improved maintenance will enhance efficiency and reliability, resulting in better performance and reduced downtime.
This initiative underscores the government’s focus on enhancing railway infrastructure, ensuring safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness within the railway system.
