NAAC Awards Utkal University A+ grade

Bhubaneswar:  Utkal University, situated in the capital of Odisha, has achieved an A+ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) under the University Grants Commission (UGC). This esteemed rating follows a comprehensive evaluation conducted by the NAAC team during their visit to Utkal University from September 26 to 28 this year. The university has secured a final grade point of 3.26, reflecting its commitment to excellence in various aspects.

Breaking down the assessment, Utkal University has demonstrated notable achievements in specific categories, including a grade point of 3.57 for curricular aspects, 3.33 for teaching-learning and evaluation, 3.15 for research, innovations, and extension, 3.65 for infrastructure and learning resources, 3.11 for student support and progression, 2.62 for governance, leadership, and management, and 3.37 for institutional values and best practices.

It’s noteworthy that Utkal University had previously received an A grade with a final grade point of 3.16 a few months ago. The recent drop in NAAC grade raised concerns among various stakeholders, leading the university to file an appeal for a fresh assessment, which has resulted in the current A+ rating. The university had previously attained an A+ grade during the NAAC assessment in 2016.

Addressing the positive outcome, Utkal University Vice-Chancellor Professor Sabita Acharya expressed delight, emphasizing the benefits of being an A+ university, including grants from RUSA and the World Bank. These resources contribute to the overall enhancement of educational opportunities and experiences for the students.

It’s also worth noting that Ravenshaw University in Cuttack recently received an A++ grade from the NAAC with a final point of 3.58, further highlighting the region’s commitment to academic excellence.
