MCL’s Ananta Coal Mines Bags 5-Star Rating

Sambalpur: The Ananta Opencast Project (OCP) in Talcher Coalfields, operated by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), has received a 5-star rating in coal mines by the Government of India for its outstanding performance during the 2021-22 fiscal year.

At the Star Rating Awards ceremony held recently, A K Bapat, Director (Technical/Projects & Planning) representing MCL, received the prestigious award from Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs. The ceremony, graced by Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Coal, acknowledged and celebrated the exemplary achievements of the Ananta Opencast Project.

The Star Ratings, ranging from 1 to 5, are a comprehensive assessment conducted by the Government of India, evaluating various aspects of mine operations. These include safety measures, environmental and sustainability practices, technology adoption, economic performance, and more. The 5-star rating signifies excellence across multiple facets of mine development, establishing the Ananta Opencast Project as a standout performer in the coal mining sector.
