Angul: The environmental consciousness initiative, “Earth Hour-2024” organized by Jindal Steel & Power(JSPL), reverberated with fervor within the confines of the company. Mr. Pankaj Malhan, Executive Director of Angul Unit, Executive Director Mr. Damodar Mittal Jindal, and other esteemed officials of the community graced the event.

In a resolute effort to kindle public consciousness regarding the safeguarding of the global environment, the city of Jindal plunged into darkness from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm as all electric illuminations were dimmed, while environmental stewards traversed from Divya Sarobar to Dev Ground clutching candles.

The youthful denizens ardently engaged in the proceedings, infusing the environmental awareness program with vitality and verve. Their voices echoed with various rallying cries concerning the perils inflicted upon the Earth by the specter of global climate change, and the imperative of its preservation. A spirited quiz competition amongst the children, orchestrated by the organizers, culminated in the felicitation of the victors.

Marking this auspicious occasion, the launch of the “PAHAL” initiative by the Department of Environmental Management heralded a new era of conscientiousness. Cloth bags, emblematic of sustainability, were disseminated among the residents of Jindal City, accompanied by admonitions against the usage of single-use plastic.

In a pledge to uphold the sanctity of their surroundings, the denizens of Jindalnagar resolved to eschew single-use plastic bags and polythene nets in favor of eco-friendly alternatives, thereby fortifying their commitment to a clean and verdant environment.
