IMD Forecasts Isolated Hailstorm, Heavy Rainfall, Lightning in Odisha Districts On March 19
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that on March 19, hailstorms, rainfall accompanied by lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 40-50 KMPH are likely to occur at one or two places over certain districts of Odisha. The trough extending from south Odisha to sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, positioned at 0.9 Km above mean sea level, is expected to become less prominent.
In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD noted that maximum temperatures have significantly dropped at a few locations in Odisha, with minor changes elsewhere in the districts. Temperatures were below normal in some coastal areas and a few places in interior Odisha, while above normal in certain interior districts. Elsewhere across the districts of Odisha, temperatures remained normal.
Temperature projections indicate that there will be no significant change in the maximum (day) temperature over the next two days. However, a decrease of 3°C to 5°C is expected in many places across Odisha in the subsequent two days. Similarly, there will be no notable change in the minimum (night) temperature over the next two days, followed by a gradual decrease of 2°C to 3°C in many areas across Odisha.
The highest maximum temperature of 37.7°C was recorded in Boudh, while the lowest minimum temperature of 19.5°C was recorded in Nabarangpur in the plains of Odisha.
