Former Odisha Minister MLA Kamala Das passes away at 79

Bhubaneswar: Kamala Das, a former Odisha Minister and three-time Bhograi MLA, has sadly passed away at a private hospital in Cuttack at the age of 79. She fell ill at her residence in Saheed Nagar, Bhubaneswar, two weeks ago, as per sources close to her family. Following her illness, she was admitted to Apollo Hospital in the capital city, where she was diagnosed with a lung infection. 

Twelve days ago, she was transferred to Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack. Das was on a ventilator at the hospital for the last three days before she passed away around 12:30 pm. Throughout her life, Das had a remarkable political career, serving as a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly three times. She was elected in 1990 and 1995 as a candidate of the Janata Dal and in 2000 as a candidate of the BJD.
