Cuttack’s Silver Filigree Gets GI Tag

Bhubaneswar: The Silver Filigree of Cuttack, a craft steeped in centuries-old tradition, has been granted the prestigious Geographical Indications (GI) tag, signifying its unique heritage and craftsmanship.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his joy at this significant recognition, highlighting the intricate artistry that characterizes this age-old craft practiced in the renowned Silver City of Cuttack. He emphasized how this craft has bestowed upon the state of Odisha a distinguished identity, owing to its meticulous craftsmanship and historical significance.

In extending his congratulations, the Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt best wishes to the people of Odisha, particularly to the residents of Cuttack and the district administration. He underscored the pride felt by the entire state in receiving the GI tag for Cuttack’s Silver Filigree (known locally as Chandi Tarakasi), emphasizing the cultural and artistic richness it adds to Odisha’s heritage.
