CM Inaugurates New Campus of SUM Hospital At Berhampur 

Berhampur: Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the new campus of SUM Hospital at Sitalapalli on Wednesday, a significant initiative by Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) aimed at extending quality healthcare services to the people of south Odisha. 

SOA operates the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, a renowned teaching hospital in Bhubaneswar that has established itself as a prominent name in the healthcare landscape of the state. Another campus of IMS and SUM Hospital was inaugurated by the chief minister at Phulnakhara on NH-16, situated between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, on January 21.

Attending the inaugural function were 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Mr. V. K. Pandian, Rajya Sabha member Mr. Manas Mangaraj, Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President of SOA, and Ms. Saswati Das, Vice-President of SOA.

SOA, a deemed university, was ranked 15th in the country by NIRF in 2023.

The new SUM Hospital campus at Sitalapalli will initially accommodate 200 beds, with plans to expand to 500 beds later. It will provide advanced healthcare facilities and state-of-the-art technology at affordable rates, along with round-the-clock emergency services.

The hospital will feature various specialty and super-specialty departments staffed by eminent healthcare professionals, many of whom are trained either overseas or in prestigious medical institutions within the country.

IMS and SUM Hospital in Bhubaneswar, ranked 16th among medical colleges in the country by NIRF in 2023, has been serving the people of Odisha and neighboring states for the past 19 years, emerging as a preferred healthcare destination in the region.

SOA has also established SUM Ultimate Medicare, a quaternary care hospital in Bhubaneswar.

All four hospitals under SOA’s administration will complement each other in their efforts to provide quality healthcare to the public.

The event was also attended by Dr. Anand Shankar Sastry, Medical Superintendent of the new hospital, Prof. Pusparaj Samantasinhar, Medical Superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Lenka, Medical Superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital, Phulnakhara, Prof. Manas Kumar Mallick, Director of ITER, Prof. Susanta Ranjan Chaini, Dean of the School of Hotel Management, Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean of Students’ Welfare, Mr. Sunil Das, CEO of Summa Real Media, Mr. Prahallad Mohanty, Officer-on-special-duty at IMS and SUM Hospital, Mr. Jugal Das, SOA’s Chief Vigilance Officer, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sahu, Director of Legal Affairs, Mr. Deba Prasad Dash, Director of Corporate Communication, along with senior doctors and other staff members.
