Chief Minister presides over ceremonial groundbreaking of Alumina Refinery & Apparel unit in Rayagada

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Aditya Alumina Refinery and the Apparel Unit, to be established by the Utkal Alumina Social Welfare Foundation. The Alumina Refinery will be located in Kansariguda, while the Apparel complex will come up in Phulujuba village, both within the Rayagada district.

Participating in the virtual groundbreaking ceremony for both projects, the Chief Minister emphasized that these developments mark not only industrial milestones but also underscore the untapped potential inherent in the state’s natural resources. He viewed the projects as the commencement of a new era in the state’s industrial landscape, reinforcing Odisha’s reputation as a preferred destination for manufacturing investments.

Expressing gratitude to the Aditya Birla Group for selecting Rayagada District for their industrial ventures, the Chief Minister highlighted the significant economic impact of the Rs 8,000 Crore investment in the alumina refinery. This refinery is expected to contribute substantially to the state’s economy by producing 2 million tons per annum of refined alumina from bauxite ore. Additionally, he commended the group for establishing an apparel manufacturing unit in Rayagada.

The Chief Minister assured that Team Odisha, through its 5T initiative, would ensure the smooth implementation of these projects. He thanked the people of Rayagada for their support and envisioned a prosperous future for the district, positioning it as a noteworthy industrial hub in India.

It’s noteworthy that on October 5, an agreement in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding was formalized with Hindalco Industries Limited, establishing a long-term linkage for raw materials for the HINDALCO Alumina Refinery at Kanshariguda, Rayagada.
