AM/NS India Observes World Health Day
Paradeep: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) marked World Health Day by championing awareness on physical and mental well-being among its employees and workers, striving to cultivate a healthier and more joyful lifestyle.
In resonance with the overarching theme of ‘My Health, My Right’ for the year, a meticulously crafted series of initiatives permeated the week. Spanning across the spectrum of participants, including employees, workers, business affiliates, and their kin, these programs burgeoned with active engagement and participation.
Kicking off on April 5th, 2024, a vibrant drawing and coloring contest themed around ‘Healthy Habits’ enthralled children ranging from pre-nursery to class 7, witnessing an overwhelming turnout. The subsequent day, April 6th, witnessed a spirited walkathon commencing from the Plant gate to the medical campus, with over 150 enthusiastic participants. The auspicious occasion was inaugurated by Sri Suresha G, Executive Director of Odisha Operations at AM/NS India. Following the walkathon, Dr. Ajit Jena, the esteemed Chief Medical Officer for Odisha Assets at AM/NS India, disseminated invaluable insights pertaining to heart health.
Further enriching the commemoration, distinguished experts graced the occasion. Dr. Ashis Panda, a revered physiotherapist from Kalinga Hospital, conducted a session elucidating the nuances of ergonomics, while Dr. Deepak Behera, a Senior Cardiologist from CARE Hospital, spearheaded a cardiac clinic catering to the employees. Dr. Guru Prasad Das, a notable dietician, elucidated the virtues of incorporating millets and cultivating a heart-healthy dietary regime. Additionally, a wellness workshop orchestrated by psychologists from MindPeers delved into the intricacies of mental health, underscoring its paramount importance.
On the pinnacle of World Health Day, April 7th, 2024, a tailored health camp tailored for adolescent girls unfolded at G.C. High School in Nuagarh, attended by 56 adolescent girls. Spearheaded by Dr. Niranjan Dwivedy, the medical team extended comprehensive health check-ups, dispensed essential medications, and imparted guidance on sustaining optimal health practices. Simultaneously, an awareness camp addressing diabetes and blood pressure management catered to villagers and Self-Help Groups, extending its benefits to over 135 participants.
The momentum persisted with unwavering fervor as on April 9th, a fitness camp orchestrated by AM/NS India’s Health & Safety team ensued, featuring external trainers leading invigorating workout sessions, accentuating the paramountcy of regular exercise.
