Kendrapara Ex-MLA Sipra Mallick Joins Congress
Bhubaneswar: Sipra Mallick, a former MLA from Kendrapara and prominent leader of the BJD, officially joined the Congress party today. She was welcomed to the party in a joining ceremony held at the Congress Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, in the presence of senior party leaders Prasad Harichandan and Panchanan Kanungo.
Addressing the media post-joining, Mallick expressed her joy and committed to fortifying the Congress party. When questioned about her prospects of securing a party nomination, she stated she was unaware of any developments and deferred to the party’s leadership for decisions. Notably, Mallick had previously clinched the Kendrapara constituency seat in the 2009 State Assembly elections under the BJD banner.
Mallick, who sought a BJD ticket from the Kendrapara Assembly constituency, saw her chances diminish with the arrival of senior leader Ganeswar Behera in the party. Despite openly expressing her disappointment in the media, her efforts were futile.
It’s pertinent to mention that her father had been a stalwart member of the Congress party.
