Shyam Steel inaugurates state-of-the-art integrated steel plant in Purulia
Purulia: Shyam Steel, a stalwart in the steel industry, proudly continues its tradition of excellence with the inauguration of its fourth integrated steel plant at JSK-II, Purulia, West Bengal. In a momentous event graced by the virtual presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, Shyam Steel reaffirms its commitment to innovation, job creation, and sustainable growth. Established in 1953, Shyam Steel has consistently set benchmarks for excellence, and the inauguration of this new plant marks another significant milestone in its illustrious journey.
The Raghunathpur Steel Plant, with an investment of ₹1,500 crore, epitomizes Shyam Steel’s dedication to technological advancement and quality production. In its first phase, the plant boasts a formidable steel-making capacity of 1.19 million tonnes per annum, equipped with cutting-edge facilities including DRI Plants, Power plant, Steel Melting Shop, and a Rolling Mill. This state-of-the-art facility underscores Shyam Steel’s commitment to delivering superior products and services.
Mr. Purushottam Beriwala, Director of Shyam Steel Industries, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating, “The inauguration of the Raghunathpur Steel Plant represents a significant leap forward in our pursuit of growth and innovation. This expansion aligns seamlessly with our overarching objective of enhancing capabilities and customer satisfaction.”
Mr. Lalit Beriwala, Director of Shyam Steel Industries, echoed this sentiment, adding, “Our vision has always been to drive India’s industrial progress while uplifting local communities. With the Raghunathpur Steel Plant, we not only strengthen our legacy but also create over 5,000 direct job opportunities for skilled and unskilled workers in Purulia.”
Spanning 600 acres at the Jungle Sundari Karmanagari (formerly known as Raghunathpur Industrial Park), the plant is poised to become a cornerstone of Purulia’s economic development. Construction commenced in April last year, and the plant is poised to revitalize the region’s industrial landscape. With ambitions to double its turnover from Rs. 4500 crores to Rs. 9000 crores over the next two years, Shyam Steel demonstrates its unwavering commitment to growth and expansion in the steel industry.
Shyam Steel remains steadfast in its pledge to contribute to India’s goal of achieving 300 million tonnes of steel production by 2030-31, aligning with the National Steel Policy and India’s broader vision of economic self-reliance.
