ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) Awards Beti Padhao Scholarships To 147 Girl Students Of Barbil
Barbil: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a collaborative venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, esteemed global steel manufacturers, awarded 147 young female scholars from the Barbil region during a ceremony held on February 21, 2024, at the Rungta Town Hall auditorium in Barbil.
The Beti Padhao Scholarship, a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project of AM/NS India, aims to support the academic endeavors of economically disadvantaged young women, thereby narrowing the education and finance gap. This initiative aligns with governmental initiatives promoting the education of girls.
Recipients of the scholarships encompass students from various educational stages, ranging from class 9 to those pursuing higher secondary, graduation, ITI, diploma, engineering, medical, and professional courses. AM/NS India extends these scholarships to deserving young women across Odisha, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra.
The scholarships were awarded to the recipients by the esteemed Chief Guest, Shri D S Subhadarshi Joshi, Tehsildar of Barbil. Representatives from AM/NS India, including Shri Sharanappa Kambalii, Chief of Mining Operations, Shri Pramod Mishra, Mines Manager at Thakurani Mines, Shri L D Babu, Mines Manager at Sagasahi Mines, and Shri Ashok Panda, Lead CSR, were also present at the event.
AM/NS India collaborated with Protean eGov Technologies for the administration of these scholarships. Utilizing Protean’s Vidyasaarathi, a cutting-edge corporate scholarship management platform, the entire lifecycle of the scholarships, from application to fund disbursement, was efficiently managed.
The event highlighted inspiring success stories of scholarship recipients who have overcome obstacles and excelled academically, serving as role models for others to pursue their aspirations. Through the Beti Padhao Scholarship, these young women not only gain access to quality education but also break societal barriers and stereotypes.
Expressing appreciation for AM/NS India’s efforts, Shri D S Subhadarshi Joshi, Tehsildar of Barbil, commended the initiative for benefiting 147 girl students from the region. Shri Sharanappa Kambalii, Chief of Mining Operations in Barbil for AM/NS India, emphasized the scholarship’s role in empowering women and fostering educational opportunities for young women in the region, reflecting the company’s commitment to inclusive community growth and signaling future similar initiatives.
