Kamiya Jani Releases Video Addressing The Uproar Regarding Her Shree Jagannath Temple Visit
Bhubaneswar: Amidst the controversy surrounding social media influencer Kamiya Jani’s visit to the Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri, she has released a video addressing the uproar. The controversy arose due to allegations that she had consumed and promoted beef during her visit.
In the video, Jani clarified, “My intention behind visiting the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri was to seek the deity’s blessings and share information about the shrine’s infrastructural development. Unfortunately, my visit has become controversial, and I understand that the temple authorities have certain rules. I want to emphasize that I have not violated any rules. I am a practicing Hindu and have neither consumed nor promoted beef. As a food blogger, my content focuses on showcasing local cuisines from various places, as seen in the Kerala video where screenshots are being misinterpreted. This clarification aims to dispel any misunderstandings.”
Initially, the BJP raised concerns, questioning why a “beef eater” was allowed entry into the 12th-century shrine. The party called for the arrest of Jani and 5T Chairman VK Pandian, accusing them of facilitating her temple visit. The BJP alleged that Jani had previously consumed beef and promoted it on social media.
In response, BJD MP Manas Mangaraj questioned the BJP’s objection to Jani’s temple visit, highlighting that the BJP government had collaborated with Jani to create documentaries on Hindu heritage and temples. Mangaraj pointed out Jani’s visits to Chardham and Ayodhya, emphasizing the BJP’s previous support for her endeavors in showcasing Hindu heritage.
