5T Chairman VK Pandian Participates In The Launching Of Nua-O Scholarships Program In Various Colleges Of Cuttack And Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: As per direction of Chief Minister Sh. Naveen Patnaik, Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha, Sh. Kartik Pandian visited several colleges in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on Sunday, March 10. He participated in the Nua-O Scholarship Distribution Programme at Ravenshaw University, J.K.B.K. College, and Shailabala Women’s College in Cuttack, followed by Ekamra Degree College, Kamala Nehru Women’s College, Maharshi College of Natural Law, and Rajdhani Degree College in Bhubaneswar.
Pandian briefed the students about the Nua-O Scholarship, which benefits all eligible PG and UG students from state government universities, government colleges, as well as non-government aided and unaided colleges.
A total of 8,116 eligible students from Cuttack and 5,358 from Bhubaneswar received scholarships totaling approximately Rs. 8.13 Crores and Rs. 5.26 Crores, respectively. Pandian distributed Nua-O Scholarship Sanction Orders to the students.
He also announced the government’s upcoming major initiative, the Nabin Odisha Magic Card. This smart card, based on a points system, aims to engage and empower youth towards academic, personality, and skill development, as well as employment. Students will earn points through various activities and performance metrics, with the card being upgraded to Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels. The card will provide access to services like WiFi, data/phone recharges, travel concessions, e-libraries, online courses, career counseling, journals, seminars, etc.
The Nabin Odisha Magic Card intends to ease the financial burden on parents and enhance career progression and employment prospects for students. The online registration portal for the card was launched on March 5th, 2024, and all UG and PG students are eligible. Card distribution will commence from August 15th onwards.
Pandian conveyed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s best wishes to the students for their future endeavors, emphasizing that this initiative would contribute to realizing the vision of Nua Odisha. He interacted with the students during the program, and their enthusiasm was palpable as they received the sanction orders and immediate SMS notifications confirming the credited amount to their accounts.
