2473 Medical Officers Inducted Into State Medical Service
Bhubaneswar: A total of 2473 Medical Officers have been inducted in the state medical services, bolstering the healthcare system of the state. Among them, 2392 hold MBBS degrees, while 81 are Dental Surgeons. An orientation program was today conducted at the Kalinga Stadium which was graced by Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik, underscoring the significance of this induction.
During the event, Chief Minister Patnaik emphasized the government’s commitment to comprehensive transformation across sectors and regions. He stressed the pivotal role healthcare plays in the 5T transformative initiative. Addressing the new doctors, he urged them to contribute significantly, emphasizing the importance of fostering a positive patient experience alongside professional excellence.
The Chief Minister highlighted the people’s contribution to their salaries and infrastructure, emphasizing the responsibility to serve the people of Odisha. He extended congratulations to the new doctors and acknowledged the sacrifices made by their families.
Patnaik reiterated the government’s dedication to universal access to quality healthcare, encapsulating the vision of “Sustha Odisha, Sukhi Odisha.” He outlined ongoing efforts, including significant infrastructure development, increased doctor production, and recruitment of medical and para-medical officers.
To enhance patient experience, the government is transforming hospitals into ‘Ama Hospitals,’ where healthcare in government facilities is provided free of cost. Notably, the State Government’s prioritization of the Health Sector has led to the establishment of new Medical Colleges and Post Graduate Institutes, making Odisha a doctor surplus State.
During the program, the Chief Minister distributed high-quality stethoscopes to Medical Officers and dental kits to Dental Surgeons. The newly recruited officers have been transparently assigned to different districts through an online counseling system.
Health Minister Shri Niranjan Pujari commended the government’s efforts in providing quality healthcare, resulting in a significant decline in Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR).
5T Chairman Shri VK Pandian emphasized the transformative role of doctors in realizing the vision of a new Odisha. Pandian expressed that doctors serve as integral partners in realizing the vision set forth by the Hon’ble Chief Minister for a renewed Odisha.
The state is currently undergoing a transformative phase across key sectors, encompassing Health, Education, Food Security, Agriculture, and various other fields. Pandian underscored the significance of addressing health issues, emphasizing their pivotal role as a bottleneck in the economic growth of families. He expected that by proactively finding solutions to health challenges, we have the potential to revolutionize the economic well-being of families throughout the state.
Two new recruits, Dr. Anmol Mohapatra and Dr. Ajit Rath, shared positive experiences about the transparent and efficient recruitment process.
The Health Secretary, Shalini Pandit, delivered the welcome address, while Director Dr. Bijoy Mohapatra proposed the vote of thanks.
