2 Killed, 4 Injured In Patna Civil Court Explosion

Patna: A tragic explosion at the Patna Civil Court claimed the lives of two lawyers and left four others injured on Wednesday. Devendra Prasad, one of the lawyers, lost his life immediately in the incident. The injured lawyers, suffering from severe burns, were swiftly transported to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, one of them succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

The event sparked outrage within the legal community, leading to demands for justice and compensation for the victims’ families. Protesters rallied, urging authorities to address the negligence they attribute to the electrical department, which they hold responsible for the tragedy. The bereaved lawyers pressed for a compensation of 20 lakh rupees for the deceased lawyer’s family.

Initial investigations indicate that a leak in the transformer’s oil, followed by a malfunction in the metering unit—a device designed to signal the meter for high-tension (HT) consumers—triggered the explosion. Electrical department personnel hinted at a potential technical failure as the root cause, with further investigation underway.
