Satkosia Mahatsov-2023 Concludes

Angul: The conclusion of the 11th edition of Satkosia Mahotsav, a vibrant three-day cultural celebration held at Sabha Ghara in Angul town, marked a momentous occasion yesterday. The closing ceremony featured Mridula Thakur, the president of the Bikash Foundation, as the esteemed Chief Guest. In her address, Mrs. Thakur emphasized the potential global recognition that children with a passion for dance and music could bring to the country if they receive proper training, envisioning them as skilled artists.
Former minister Sanjiv Sahu and BJP state committee member Pratap Chandra Pradhan, the guests of honor, underscored the pivotal role of Nrutyanilay in the development of art and culture within Angul district. Guru Anita Singhdeo and organization advisor Hemant Das narrated the evolutionary journey of Nrutyanilay over the years, emphasizing its significant contribution to the cultural development of the region.
The evening saw the felicitation of renowned Kuchupudi dancer N Shailaja from Chennai with the prestigious Satkosia Award, while the celebrated Odissi dancer Sasmita Panda received the Satkosia Yuva Pratibha Award. Both awardees were presented with a shawl, citation, and a memento in recognition of their outstanding contributions. Nrutyanilaya’s secretary, Swapnarani Sinha, delivered the welcoming address.
The cultural extravaganza featured captivating performances by N Shailaja and Sasmita Panda, showcasing Kuchupudi and Odissi dance forms, respectively. Bhubaneswar Lalita Kala Peeth presented an enchanting Odissi group dance performance, and Nrutyanilaya artists delighted the audience with Odissi ballet and Sambalpuri dance. Yagna Ray skillfully coordinated the event, which drew in hundreds of spectators who braved the chilly winter evening to revel in the cultural richness.
