Rtd Executive Engineer and spouse found guilty in DA Case
Bhubaneswar: Former Executive Engineer (Retired) of R.W. Division in Umarkote, District Nabarangpur, Mr. Simadri Nayak, and his spouse, Mrs. Laxmi Nayak, who faced charges and were charge sheeted by the Odisha Vigilance in Case No. TR 07/2014 under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code for possessing disproportionate assets totaling Rs. 38,40,769 in comparison to their known sources of income. The Honorable Special Judge at the Special Court in Bhubaneswar has convicted both individuals.
Mr. Simadri Nayak has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,00,000 (Ten Lakhs). In default of paying the fine, he is liable to undergo an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment for the offense under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the PC Act, 1988.
Mrs. Laxmi Nayak has been sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 2,00,000 (Two Lakhs). In default of paying the fine, she is liable to undergo an additional three months of rigorous imprisonment for the offense under Section 109 of the IPC.
The Honorable Court’s decision has prompted Odisha Vigilance to initiate the process of halting the pension of Mr. Simadri Nayak, the retired Executive Engineer, following his conviction.
