Bhubaneswar: The capital of Odisha, found itself in the grip of an unprecedented heatwave, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 44.6°C by 2:30 pm, marking it as the hottest spot in the state. The Meteorological Department sounded the alarm, issuing a red alert for the twin cities.
Warnings from the Meteorological Center in Bhubaneswar painted a grim picture, forecasting a relentless heatwave gripping Odisha for the next five days, extending until May 4. Daytime temperatures are projected to surge by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the coming four to five days.
The intensity of the heatwave is expected to peak over the next four days, with temperatures across the state soaring 2 degrees higher within just two days. Most regions are anticipated to experience temperatures 4 to 6 degrees above the seasonal norm. Reports suggest that the mercury in Bhubaneswar is poised to climb even higher in the days ahead.
