Ravindra Kumar appointed director (operations) at NTPC 

New Delhi: Mr. Ravindra Kumar (DIN: 10523088) assumed the role of Director (Operations) at NTPC on February 26, 2024. Graduating with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from BIT Sindri in 1988, Mr. Kumar brings over 34 years of extensive experience to his new position.

Before his appointment as Director (Operations) at NTPC Limited, Mr. Kumar served as OSD (Officer on Special Duty) to the Director (Operations) within the same organization. He began his journey with NTPC Limited as a Graduate Engineer Trainee officer in 1989 and has since demonstrated his expertise in various domains including Commissioning, O&M, Engineering, and Project Management.

Throughout his career, Mr. Kumar has held numerous roles, notably contributing to the O&M function at NTPC Kahalgaon Project and serving in the Engineering department at the Corporate Centre. Additionally, he provided technical support to the Director (Technical) and played a pivotal role in the development of the first Maitree supercritical power project of Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL) in Bangladesh.

During his tenure as Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Mr. Kumar led the Engineering, erection, commissioning, and O&M activities of the 660 MW 1st Unit of BIFPCL. Subsequently, as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, he drove various construction and erection initiatives forward.

With a blend of corporate and site experience, a people-centric approach, and comprehensive knowledge of the power sector, Mr. Ravindra Kumar is a seasoned professional poised to make significant contributions in his new role.
