Odisha CM Lays Foundation Stone for One of World’s Largest Steel Plants In Paradeep
Paradeep: In a significant development, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for one of the World’s largest steel plants at Dhinkia in Paradeep on Friday.
JSW Group Chairman Shri Sajjan Jindal, Shri Parth Jindal, Shri Pratap Keshari Deb, Minister of Industries, Shri V.K Pandian, Chairman of 5T, Shri Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary of Industries, Shri Anil Kumar Singh, and other esteemed dignitaries were present on the occasion at the site.
The ambitious integrated green steel initiative by JSW Steel is anticipated to catalyze economic growth in the region, fostering a robust ancillary and downstream ecosystem and potentially creating around 30,000 direct and indirect job opportunities. Envisioned as a world-class green technology steel manufacturing facility, the Integrated Complex will prioritize a circular economy approach and serve as a global model for cleanliness, greenery, and cutting-edge technologies.
Key components of the project include a world-class Integrated Steel Manufacturing facility with a capacity of 13.2 MTPA, a captive power plant to meet energy demands, captive jetties with cargo-handling capabilities, a cement manufacturing unit, and a modern township, among other features.
The greenfield integrated complex by JSW Steel will be established at Dhinkia Nuagaon and Gadakujanga under Erasama Tehsil, Jagatsinghpur district. The Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) has allocated 2,958 acres of land for this purpose, with 30% earmarked for the preservation of forests and water bodies.
JSW Steel and JSW Group entities are poised to invest approximately Rs 65,000 crore, subject to necessary approvals, in a phased manner to realize this ambitious project. The ground-breaking ceremony witnessed the participation of over 30,000 individuals, including villagers, representatives, technocrats, and industry experts.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for ReNew E-Fuels Private Ltd.’s 1.20 MPTA green ammonia plant with an investment of Rs.22 billion and Silox India Private Limited’s Rs.500 crore investment for a 25 thousand MPTA chemical plant, collectively generating around 5,000 job opportunities. Overall, these projects are expected to create around 35,000 jobs in the region.
Expressing gratitude to the industrialists for their investments, the Chief Minister emphasized that development has become synonymous with Odisha’s identity. He hailed the onset of a new era in industry, infrastructure, education, and healthcare, attributing the state’s bright development trajectory to initiatives like 5T. He highlighted the pivotal role of common people, farmers, women, and youth as partners in Odisha’s journey towards progress.
In recognition of his efforts, the Jindal family felicitated the Chief Minister during the event, which was also attended by Mr. V. Karthik Pandian, Chairman of 5T and Naveen Odisha, and Mr. Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary of Industries, who extended the vote of thanks.
