Nayab Singh Saini Takes Oath As CM Of Haryana
Chandigarh: Nayab Singh Saini took oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana following the resignation of Manohar Lal Khattar and his cabinet on Tuesday. Saini, chosen as the legislative party leader, was joined by Union minister Arjun Munda, BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh, along with Khattar and Biplab Deb, the party’s Haryana in-charge, as he met Governor Bandaru Dattatreya to assert his claim for government formation in the state.
Saini’s appointment follows the departure of the previous Chief Minister, who cited apparent strains within the ruling coalition of the BJP and the Jannayak Janata Party. Despite the JJP’s withdrawal, the BJP asserts it has adequate seats to meet the halfway mark.
Currently, the BJP holds 41 seats in the 90-member House, while the JJP has 10. Additionally, the ruling coalition enjoys support from six to seven independent MLAs.
Saini, an OBC, has been associated with the BJP since 1996, holding various significant positions within the party, including district general secretary of the BJP Youth Wing in Ambala and state general secretary of the BJP Kisan Morcha in Haryana.
