Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences(KISS) Hosts Mega Guardians’ Meet
Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) organized a mega gathering of guardians in a grand event held on Sunday. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the Founder of KIIT-KISS, expressed profound gratitude to the attendees for their unwavering support and affection, which has elevated KISS to international acclaim.
Describing KISS as more than just an institution, Dr. Samanta characterized it as a comprehensive educational hub, encompassing a school, college, and university that passionately nurtures the aspirations of numerous tribal students from all corners of the country. The well-attended event drew guardians from 15 states, highlighting the widespread impact of KISS.
During the event, Dr. Samanta highlighted the recent discussions in Parliament where Members of Parliament from various political backgrounds praised KISS for its pioneering role in tribal education. He humbly accepted the accolades, emphasizing in a written message that he sees himself merely as a “medium” facilitating free education for tribal children.
In a momentous gesture, Dr. Samanta introduced the KISS Rugby team, a source of pride for the institution. Not only have these accomplished players secured substantial cash prizes, but they have also been bestowed with jobs by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as a recognition of their achievements on the national stage. The Founder commended the Chief Minister for his significant efforts in promoting sports and providing employment opportunities to athletes.
The event also provided a platform for the Rugby team members to share their success stories and how KISS has positively transformed their lives. Dr. Samanta emphasized that KISS is dedicated to fostering holistic development, encompassing academic excellence, sports, and the cultivation of creative talents, making it a celebrated institution worldwide.
The Guardians’ meet served as an opportune moment for parents to reconnect with their children and stay informed about the latest developments on the campus. KISS made meticulous arrangements for parents to attend the meeting, and they left with the newly released New Year calendar, presented by the Founder.
Rajya Sabha MP Niranjan Bishi lauded Dr. Samanta as an inspiration for recognizing the imperative to empower the tribal community from a young age. Referring to the parliamentary appreciation of KISS, Bishi hailed Dr. Samanta as the “pride of India and Odisha.”

KISS Secretary R N Dash acknowledged Dr. Samanta’s lifelong dedication to transforming KISS into a revered institute, while KISS Vice President Umapada Bose referred to Dr. Samanta as the “creator” who has ensured sustenance and livelihoods for lakhs of tribal families. Senior officials from both KIIT and KISS, including KISS Vice Chancellor Prof Deepak Kumar Behera and KISS Registrar Dr. Prashanta Routray, graced the event with their presence.
