Former Odisha CM Giridhar Gamang Rejoins Congress
New Delhi: Giridhar Gamang, the former Chief Minister of Odisha, reunited with the Congress on Wednesday, accompanied by his wife Hema Gamang and son Shishir Gamang. The Gamang family, along with former Bargarh MP Sanjay Bhoi, formally joined the Congress in a ceremony attended by senior Congress leader Ajay Maken and the party’s Odisha incharge, Dr. Ajoy Kumar.
The Congress shared the news on X, stating, “Today, in the presence of Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken and Orissa Congress In-charge Dr. Ajoy Kumar, former Chief Minister of Orissa, Giridhar Gamang, along with Mrs. Hema Gamang, Sanjay Bhoi, and Shishir Gamang, joined the Congress Party. Congratulations to all and best wishes for the future.”
Giridhar Gamang, a nine-time Congress Lok Sabha MP from Odisha’s Koraput, had left the Congress in 2015 to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, he severed ties with the BJP last year and joined the BRS led by K Chandrashekhar Rao.
