CM Naveen Patnaik Inaugurates ‘Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre And Research Institute’ In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated the ‘Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre and Research Institute,’ a 750-bed facility located at Infovalley in Bhubaneswar. This state-of-the-art cancer care hospital, a collaborative effort with the renowned Sri Shankar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Bangalore, aims to provide comprehensive care with a focus on healing and hope. Subroto Bagchi and Sushmita Bagchi’s generous contribution to Odisha has made this endeavor possible.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister emphasized the significance of this hospital in advancing cancer treatment in Odisha and eastern India. He expressed gratitude to the Bagchi family and the Sri Shankara Cancer Center for their pivotal role, highlighting his government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare across the state.
Notably, the state has made considerable strides in healthcare over the past two decades, with the establishment of new medical colleges and improvements in healthcare infrastructure and services.
The Chief Minister also underscored initiatives like the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana and the ongoing transformation of hospital infrastructure under the 5T initiative. He stressed the importance of raising awareness about diseases like cancer and promoting healthy lifestyles to achieve the vision of a ‘Healthy Odisha, Happy Odisha.’
Guest speaker Suresh Kumar Routray, MLA of Jatni, commended the Chief Minister’s efforts in revolutionizing the healthcare sector by establishing new medical colleges. He lauded the Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital for its commitment to providing top-notch cancer care services to the people of Odisha.
Subroto Bagchi expressed gratitude for the government’s support in establishing the hospital, which spans 22 acres and offers world-class medical facilities. With an investment of Rs 410 crore, the hospital boasts advanced infrastructure and cutting-edge medical technology, ensuring patients receive the best possible care. Additionally, the hospital is affiliated with the state’s flagship health scheme, BSKY.
State Health and Family Welfare Minister Niranjan Pujari and V. Karthik Pandian, Chairman of 5T & Nabin Odisha, were also present at the inauguration ceremony, underscoring the collaborative effort to enhance healthcare in the state.
