CM Naveen Inaugurates Anandabana In Bhubaneswar
Sprawling across 89.05 acres, Anandbana enveloped by verdant foliage and host of healthy amenities
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated Anandabana, dedicating it to the people. He immersed himself for sometime in the rejuvenating ambiance of Anandabana, taking in its beauty and essence.
Enveloped by verdant foliage and the gentle symphony of the natural world, he became fully immersed in the peaceful ambiance, forging a profound connection with the serene environment.
Acknowledging the significance of safeguarding green expanses and promoting a thriving urban ecosystem, Anandabana strives to integrate green infrastructure into the cityscape to improve the overall air quality index. This endeavor is in harmony with the overarching goal of environmental stewardship.
Among others 5T Chairman Shri V K Pandian, Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister of the Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department; Mrs. Sulochana Das, Mayor of BMC; Shri P K Jena, Chief Secretary; Shri Satyabrata Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary of Forest & Environment; Shri D.K. Singh, ACS, Steel & Mines -Cum- Chairman of OMC; Debidutta Biswal, PCCF HoFF; Manoj V Nair, Director of Nandan Kanan Biological Park; Shri Balwant Singh, Vice-Chairman and Director of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA); Sanjeet Kumar, RCCF Bhubaneswar, DFO City Forest Division, along with various other department officials joined the inauguration programme. .
Under the visionary guidance of the Chief Minister, Anandabana has been conceived to guarantee that the residents of Bhubaneswar can sustainably relish a vibrant city life. The state government is actively pursuing substantial initiatives to revitalize forested regions, crafting “Urban Forests.” Anandabana stands as a prime example of this effort, aiming to reintroduce urban forests into city living.
Anandabana sprawls across 89.05 acres, providing a diverse array of amenities for its visitors. These amenities encompass generous vehicle parking, relaxation benches, gazebos, rain shelters, a children’s play area, public facilities, and kiosks offering wholesome food. In addition to its recreational facilities, Anandabana serves as a hub for cultivating future environmental stewards.
The site boasts 550 meters of rock trails and 32,750 square feet of water bodies, enriching the tranquil atmosphere and providing habitats for diverse aquatic species. Additionally, it hosts 12,000 Miyawaki plantations, employing the Japanese Miyawaki technique to conserve biodiversity.
Furthermore, Ananda Bana offers 1,000 meters of soil trails and 3,830 meters of bicycle trails, featuring 69 varieties of medicinal plants and 10,000 urban plantations. These efforts contribute to urban greening endeavors and elevate the overall environmental quality of the area, ensuring Anandabana offers a distinctive and fulfilling experience for all.
The state government is actively encouraging citizens to preserve and nurture our natural heritage, emphasizing the importance of health and fitness. This initiative aims to foster a profound sense of connection to the environment among the residents of the capital city. Anandabana will offer a serene environment where people can experience tranquility, engaging all five senses, in what can be described as the “Anandabana.
Planned and implemented in accordance with the principles of 5T, Anandabana showcases successful inter-departmental coordination and collaboration. The active engagement of government bodies such as the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC), and the City Forest department underscores a united dedication to promoting environmental stewardship and fostering greener, more livable cities throughout Odisha.
