Both PM Modi and CM Naveen focus on development : 5 T chairman Kartik Pandian
Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Karthik Pandian, Chairman of 5T, maintained that the necessity for a BJD-BJP coalition only to ensure election victories is null. During an interview at the CNN News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2024 in Delhi, he highlighted that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik does not depend on BJP’s support to secure wins in Odisha, and similarly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not require BJD’s backing to establish a government at centre.
Pandian underscored the widespread popularity enjoyed by both Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He confidently affirmed that Naveen Patnaik is poised to secure his sixth consecutive term as Chief Minister of Odisha, while Narendra Modi is anticipated to continue his tenure as Prime Minister.
Kartik Pandian, also Chairman of Nabin Odisha, highlighted a significant factor contributing to Hon’ble CM Naveen Patnaik’s success—the approach to politics as a public service. Pandian remarked on the Chief Minister’s commitment to keeping politics distinct from public service, dedicating his life to the welfare of the people.
Pandian noted that both CM Naveen and PM Modi prioritize development beyond political agendas, thereby diminishing the electoral advantage of forming alliances. According to him, the ability of both leaders to win elections independently underscores this assertion.
Pandian stated, “This implies that neither BJD needs BJP to govern Odisha nor does BJP need BJD to govern at the Centre.”
Recent reports indicating Narendra Modi’s potential re-election as Prime Minister prompted Pandian to reflect on matters transcending political considerations. He suggested that the prospect of an alliance rests solely on the decisions of the two politicians.
Pandian asserted, “If they unite for a noble cause, it doesn’t imply a political equation,” adding that there are no electoral benefits for BJP or BJD in such an arrangement.
Pandian concluded by highlighting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s consistent electoral success, securing a significant majority of votes due to his popularity. He also mentioned BJD’s landslide victory in the recent panchayat elections, emphasizing the strong bond between the two leaders rooted in their shared commitment to national development. According to Pandian, this relationship exemplifies a healthy camaraderie between leaders, with the unfolding of events awaiting due course.
