New Delhi: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, positioned within the top 10 universities in India as per NIRF 2023, organized the Amrita Research & Innovation Symposium for Excellence (ARISE) 2024. This four-day symposium served as a dynamic platform, catalyzing inventive solutions to global challenges. Renowned experts delved into pivotal themes including One Health, Ecosystem Restoration, Information Intelligence & Immersion, Disaster Resilience, Empowered Organizational Systems, Value-Based Education & Indic Studies, Ubiquitous Artificial Intelligence, and inclusivity.
Distinguished Guests of Honour, Dr. Venu Govindaraju from the University at Buffalo, USA, and Dr. Akhilesh Gupta from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Govt. of India, graced the event alongside Amma, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, the Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Keynote addresses on diverse subjects were delivered by notable figures such as Dr. Shankar Venugopal, Vice President at Mahindra & Mahindra; Dr. Ranjith Krishna Pai, Scientist & Senior Director at the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India; and Dr. Anand Madanagopal, Founder & CEO of Cardiac Design Labs.
Dr. Akhilesh Gupta, representing the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, emphasized the essential blend of knowledge in science and technology with compassion. He highlighted India’s progress in communication, startups, and publication excellence and pledged significant support for research through the National Research Foundation. Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, in her keynote, stressed the intrinsic potential within individuals and the role of education in fostering a deep connection with nature.
Dr. Venu Govindaraju highlighted the importance of collaborative research in addressing grand challenges, emphasizing responsible harnessing of AI power. Dr. Upendra Kumar Singh, Director General – Life Sciences, Defense Research and Development Organization, Govt. of India, provided insights into the global implications of AI, especially in the military domain.
Dr. Maneesha V Ramesh, Provost of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, showcased the institution’s remarkable achievements in research, publications, and global recognition. The event included the recognition of 24 researchers as among the top 2% scientists globally during the Amrita Innovation & Research Awards ceremony. The symposium presented a variety of activities, encompassing workshops, exhibitions, poster sessions, cultural programs, and dynamic panel discussions. Keynote sessions were centered on vital subjects, including Innovations Driving the Future of Mobility, Generative Artificial Intelligence, Future of Circular Economy, Harnessing Geospatial Intelligence for Global Challenges, Green Data Analytics of Supercomputing from Massive Sensor Networks, Digital Revival of the Knowledge Heritage of India, National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), Sanatana Dharma, and other relevant topics.
